Unreal Engine 4 Tutorial | 2 Ways To Migrate Assets

preview_player
Показать описание
In this Unreal Engine 4 tutorial we'll create quick little asset package and migrate it from one project to another. First we'll migrate it directly from one project to the other, then we'll migrate another asset pack to the desktop, before manually placing it inside a new project.

Dude, what a way to open up your video! "Yea, someone asked me how to migrate assets from one project to another, and I was surprised because that's really basic" or something like that. Bro, a word of advice, don't make your audience feel like they should know more than they do, or in other words, make them feel stupid. Dude, the fact that they don't know and they are coming to your channel is why your channel exists right now. I own a tech company in web design, and development, I'm an accomplished web graphics artist, and I've been on Unreal Engine about 6 months now and I'm here. Put yourself back in the mindset of when you were learning Unreal Engine, there's a lot to learn man. Just some words of advice. Also, I do video production as well, and with all your unreal engine knowledge, I'm surprised you don't have a better, more cinematic intro to your videos. Yea, that's the whole reason I'm learning Unreal, it isn't to make video games, that's for sure. Just saying, I could help you with that if you want? See how it goes, bud.

This is very simple method, but when you want to migrate an object IN the scene, it never migrates position so imho this migration thing wasnt' very well thought out. Or can you somehow migrate positions, rotations etc. ?

Hi Ben, i was wondering how do you manege to update your content brownser in UE4, so that the folder containing the asset you have just pasted through windows explorer, is immediately visible in the browser in Unreal? By the way...good tutorial

Hi Ben, do you know how to migrate and place static meshes from another project exactly on the same coordinates from the project they were migrated from?

Hi Ben, thanks for uploading this. My question is this, say in one project i set down my assets into the scene (models i have created, for an example walls and roofs of a building for an example), How would i go about migrating that "Scene" setup i have physically placed down into another project. So that when i open the other project i dont have to "rebuild" everything again?

How can I create a file with its own variables and freely chosen filenames?
How can I read the variable back from the file?
And how can I delete the file from the hard disk?

Excellent tutorial Ben, I usually use the migration just in folders tha are content folders, I didn't know it worked too if you use another folder just by keeping the same structure :P

But what happens if you work with a collaboration team? Does it make sense if work with a versioning program? Does UE4 have a version control plug-in? I tell you this because, I can't figure out how gaming companies work with several developers with UE4, I mean, how do they share/control assets between each other?

Thank you in advance!!

You should upload more often, at least once a week.
