Your valley must have been formed by a glacier. It’s steep sides are characteristic, but in the right rock can be formed from water. The giveaway is the moraine where you tunnel through, it is classic glacial deposit. Water separates deposits into different particle sizes, but melting ice drops everything together: silt, sand, gravel and large rocks all mixed up together like that.

Bamboo is a wonderful shrub, easy to work with and thousands of things are made with it, from houses to containers. Mother earth is very generous to the ingenuity of the man who strives and wants a sustainable life.

put a bunch of small river rocks at the entrance to the pipes to act as a filter for larger debris

I would like to see some sort of bamboo screen to keep the pipes from getting filled with any debris.

Yes, Peter, indeed Bambi is much useful. The guy built a vital thing for him. Vou can build all domestic needs as tables, sofá, beds, plates, cups. And they give you pleasant shadow in very hot summers. This man lives in a paradise.

Friendly reminder to add maybe another 2 bamboo pipes // if you have a lot of drainage then the backflow would be devastating ! Keep up the work dude would love to do the same but im stuck in my office ...

If you build like a filtration system consisting of a couple of rocks where debree like plants are collected pre entry your bamboo pipes will live longer. Also I would recomend putting stones on the exit position as water is the number one cause of korrosion

great job on the pipes, though personally I figured lining them vertically rather than horizontally would have been better if you planned to bury them(the reason it would be so is that the higher the water level rose, the more pipes the water could flow through. Though I think it wouldn't be that necessary given the height of your main pools), but since you left the tunnel unburied then any excess water that flows over the tubes will simply wash over the top and down the tunnel.

I do however, have a problem with how you handled your excess water. Rather than let it flow over the edge and into the woods below, you could have made additional pools below the opening using the excess dirt that poured into one another like steps. That would have given you an additional source of water that could have been used in a multitude of ways. You also could have chopped up the skinnier piece of bamboo you where using to punch holes in the larger ones to make short pipes that could then be buried along your walkway to better help the flow and control of water in your main pools without having the gap in your walkways. it would also allow you to expand your walkways a touch more to better help walking about.
