While the peak temperature is important I think it is more important to look at the hours at peak and perhaps hours each side of peak for some value from peak, say 3F. Here where I live in central Texas, the peak may only last 30 min. The news media and others focus on the short lived peak.

I enjoy your reports, thanks for all the work. Your subscriber count continues to grow so it seems others are learning of the value of your work.

The high temperature in San Angelo, Texas yesterday was an astounding 114 degrees, setting a new all-time high temperature record. Climate records for San Angelo date back to 1907. The previous all-time high was 111, and this was tied just one day earlier on Monday of this week.

Eric, you mentioned earlier this spring of a concern if the cold Pacific surface water remained off the US west coast into summer, even as an El Nino develops. Well, it has. Is that feature part of the culprit why there is extended dry regions from Eastern Iowa through Northern half of Illinois and into Indiana and Michigan? Does that cold water off the west coast have to abate before we can get back a more normal jet stream flow that would return moisture to the parched areas of the corn belt? Or, does the moving of the deep low over the SE states need to move out first? Or both?

If the warm water becomes "super" and last for 12 months or longer, as you previously mentioned, what would be the implications for next year?

Thank you
