When Is A Worm Tower Ready For Another Tray On Top? | Vermicompost Worm Farm

Показать описание
How to know when to add another worm tower tray to the top to actively feed it as your compost worms turn food scraps & shredded cardboard into natural fertilizer & soil amendments! In my VermiHut worm tower my compost worms give me about 60 pounds of worm castings a year but how do you know when to rotate your trays? Watch this video to see what I look for!

We also checkin on the last three side feedings to include the kombucha SCOBY piece & add the last feeding before this worm tray, full of red wigglers & blue composting worms, gets put down a level as it finishes consuming the last bits of food scraps & shredded cardboard. Finally stay tuned to the end where I add a new inoculating tray to the bottom and get my VermiHut back up to 4 trays!

Happy Vermicomposting Everyone!!!🪱🪱🪱

They really munched down on that newspaper! That's a great amount of castings in that tray! Great video my friend!

I love your idea of putting a tray of shredded cardboard on the bottom.
My Can-O-Worms has 3 trays and I'm using all three. The 4th tray would be great.
The week sure has warmed up and feels great to Garden in the morning.

Looking good, Patrick! I tried blackberry leaves and interestingly enough, there were more worms around them than the fruit on the other side. Worms are going to love that broccoli!!
Awesome video brother!! Glad you're feeling better!!
Cheers Jason and Colleen 🌱🪱🌱

My granddaughter picks and eats broccoli flowers in the garden. I love them too. Interesting as always Patrick.

I cut all the broccoli in the early winter (I always leave the roots of my plants in the soil to deteriorate over winter) and freeze for winter feedings. I was initially surprised how quickly the thickest stems would disappear.
Enjoy your videos!
Stay Well!!!

I think all the brassicas have yellow flowers, Patrick. Certainly the ones we grow! I just posted a video about watching the bees on our kale flowers left in the garden from the year before.

I hope you feel better soon!

Hi I haven’t had any worm juice come out of my trays. They seem to be wet enough and the blanket is always kept quite wet. Why would I not be getting any excess moisture dripping out of the bottom tray please? I live in a subtropical area of Australia.

I thought you were supposed to give citrus to worms? Or am I mistaken?

I just started a red wiggler worm bin today. A indoor one though

Such obedient worms like children who hate broccoli ut eat it none the less because they don't have a choice. Harvest time is close at hand.

Hello my wormie friend!!! 🤩🙌🏼🪱 they are abit like us, they know Kombucha is good for them, it’s just not their fav!! 😂😂 great info on swapping the tray and getting it ready for castings!! Imagine how beautiful and fertile that’s gonna be!!
Hope you’re feeling better Patrick! Isn’t it always the way you get sick when you go on vacation!!!! It’s like your body stops and you get sick 🤒 take care my friend…..
Ok so now you’ve got 4 trays going in that bin, but the bottom is resting!! Cool 😎
Hope you have an amazing week my friend!! 🌷🌻🪱

I like the fact that would put the prepared bedding underneath to get ready for use. It is a smart use of time to help let the bedding age and start getting some life in it before it becomes the feeding tray.

Very cool seeing how they eat all the different foods. Also neat seeing all the different sized worms. They are super active!

I think it's more just them running around on the newspaper and pooping on it that degrades it like that. They do eat it eventually but I don't think they're making a concerted effort to tear it apart either, it's just a happy accident that they get to poop enzymes all over their future food. Pre-digestion, if you will xD
