President Joe Biden is scheduled to deliver a public speech from the Rose Garden Thursday morning in his first on-camera appearance since Donald Trump's election victory.
The remarks are scheduled for 11 a.m. Eastern.
Biden will likely strike a similar tone as Vice President Kamala Harris when she conceded to President-elect Trump on Wednesday. Harris urged unity in her concession speech at Howard University.
“The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, not what we fought for, not what we voted for,” Harris said. “But hear me when I say, the light of America’s promise will always burn bright, as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting.”
Harris went on to highlight that she would engage in a peaceful transfer of power and thanked her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, President Joe Biden and running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
"A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results," Harris said. "That principle, as much as any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny. And anyone who seeks the public trust must honor it." #Politics #News #Election
