I met George Benson on several occasions over the years. I even drove him to his hotel room one night to get dressed for that nights gig in a tiny little club in Los Angeles. This was a year before Breezin hit in the mid 70s. No limo no entourage no nothin. About three years before that he played at a club near my house and there were only 4 people in the audience. The two people i came with and the bar tender. We hung out after the gig, told stories and had a few laughs. 1976 came and Breezin hit and the rest is history. I met him later when he was rich and famous. He never changed one iota. He remained down to earth, humble and engaging to everyone he met. Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, George Benson then everybody else....end of the story!
