Trade War Would Be Bad for US, Europe: Greek PM

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis discusses the re-election of Donald Trump as US President and what this could mean for the European Union. Speaking on Bloomberg Television on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, Mitsotakis says he is a "big believer in free trade" who doesn't believe in tariffs. He also comments on Mario Draghi's recent report on the EU, and says "there is a renewed sense of urgency in terms of focusing on European competitiveness."

Greece could become the biggest natural gas producer in the EU, yet the Greek PM talks about liquid natural gas imports from USA to EU.

It makes no sense to buy american LNG.
We have no pipes that connect us, so it will have to be deliver by ships.
That will make it expencive and time consuming.
Its better for the EU to drill our own natural gas.
The EU has to become more transparent and stop all the nonsence with the wind mill farms and focus more in itself and its neighbors.
We need strong borders, security and peace and we will progress.
Free trade is not a good solution for the poor countries.
Everything must be measured accordingly, otherwise the weak and and poor will become weaker and poorer.

Based on Chinese Custom full year 2023 data, US trade with China is barely over 10% of total China world trade (664B vs 6 trillion). US trade war, even total decoupling is not going to break China.
