What's all this talk about Damon brackets?

One of my favorite things about being an orthodontist is educating my patients about how, why, when, etc. I LOVE seeing my patients understand the rationale behind what we do. In a spirit of educating the general public, and in an effort to clarify a controversial subject, I decided to do the following video.
One of the most frustrating things we see is when, in an effort to "sell" a patient on treatment, a patient is told by another orthodontist that the brand of braces they use is better than that used by other orthodontists.

Remember: it's not the car; it's the driver.

I could never tell if Damon system hurts less, but my treatment was meant to last for 3 years, and with this system my teeth moved so fast in the first month that my treatment was shortned to 2 years. I could see new changes every day. Also, barely any wound or cut on my mouth.

One thing that’s definite is different aesthetics, I personally prefer the Damon in that category

My case: With traditional braces they would pull out four to eight perfectly healthy teeth. This is insane. With Damon I am so lucky that it was not indicated to remove any teeth. I wonder how someone can say those brackets were the same. For sure not.

Can you get colors with Damon braces ?like the traditional braces knowing that it doesn’t need the bands to hold the wire

You’re the only orthodontist saying this. Clearly, you’re in the minority. BTW: I had traditional braces years ago and have Damon now. Damons are far more comfortable, much easier to keep clean, use gentle constant pressure so there’s never that horrible initial pain that makes it so that even apple sauce hurts to chew after you get a new wire, and by all studies and accounts they work much faster than ceramic or traditional braces. Don’t know where you got your training, but you’re definitely behind the times.
