I can see that I’ll soon see how much fabric I have! Reality will set in. 😂

I use the card inners from bolts begged from the shops, cut them in half widthways and fold the fabric round them. I also recently went through my stash which was around fat quarter size. Cut scraps into 3” and 4” squares, and 2 1/2” strips which were then rolled. Anything that was nearer a fat quarter, I re folded and that’s now stored upright, rather lying flat, in narrow boxes 4” x 12” as in the shops. I even sorted them into sets like Christmas, children’s, prints for broderie perse, etc. I was amazed how much fabric I had forgotten. A great job for a winters day.

This is really helpful! I currently have all my fabric in storage bins and, as you said, I have bought duplicates because I can't see it all! Looking forward to implementing this in my seeing space/office!

That actually is a new way to fold, enclosing the board instead of using it like a bolt. Kudos.

Great visuals on this compact and neat presentation. Thank you. I do quilt and sew garments which leads to a very large stash! I use the comic book storage method for my batik fabrics and store them in bids that fit that size. My q.cottons are folded to 6” wide 12” deep to fit my wire shelving (not a good choice I’ve discovered). The folding systems in both methods works well and I think yours will be great for my garment fabric.

Fabric exposed on an open shelf can be damaged by the sun. We often receive sun faded fabric as donation at the creative reuse organization I work at. So if you love it and want to use it to make something special, keep it out of the sun.

All your fabric should be protected from any kind of light, doesn't matter daylight or lamps.
