Then why does Hermione have so many of Ron's lines, why's Ron an idiot, and why isn't Harry an emotional sarcastic smartass?

That was the problem. They had to put Hermione on a pedestal at the expense of Ron. Ron was brilliant in his own way in the books, only to be comedic relief in the films. Poor Rupert

It’s part of why the movies fall short, they tried to turn Hermione into both Hermione and Ron making Ron comic relief guy

Emma, Dan and Rupert was honestly already so much like the characters they played that the director could have just let them do whatever they wanted and it probably would have been more faithful to the source material.

Like everyone has heard that story where the kids where all supposed to write a paper on their character, and Emma showed up with like a three page essay, Dan wrote a heartfelt letter, and Rupert didn’t do the assignment at all because he felt it would be out of character for Ron.

But equally all of the movie versions of the trio were quite different to the book versions. I guess it’s cool that they were into their characters though.

It's not just about knowing the character well. She was a teenage girl. She should have a better idea how a teenage girl might speak than adults, particularly men

The original "she would NOT fucking say that"...

I still love that story about how they all had to write essays about their characters. Daniel finished his, it was like 1 or 2 pages long, Emma wrote an entire like 20 pages (maybe an exaggeration), and Rupert didn't do his at all.

Tom being Draco and lying he read them all:
"GRANGER HELP ME NOW! 👺"

Okay, but why would Hermione, a muggle born, know what a mud blood was where it was supposed to be Ron, as a pure blood descendant, who informed the room what a mudblood was? Makes no sense.

Why didn't she say to them, stop giving me Ron's lines then?

Hang on - she was a "big fan" of the books, and "changed lines that she felt Hermione would never say" - and yet, movie Hermione has many of book Ron's best lines transferred to her character, so Ron looks like a big joke, and she looks like a superhero? Press X to doubt on THAT one. And before anyone says Emma Watson wasn't in charge of those changes, didn't you JUST get through telling me she had the power to change her lines, AND that she was "a big fan of the books"???
At the VERY least, she shares in the blame for those changes, even if she is not solely responsible.

That’s the best collaboration in film. It’s a joint process and needs everyone to get the best it can be
