The Ordinary’s Red Peeling Solution | MaximumSkin

I’ll start by saying that everyone is entitled to feel how they want about a brand, about a product, etc… However, the consistent dogging out of particularly affordable brands by dermatologists, nurses, and estheticians is really bothering me.

No matter what the brand, there’s always going to be products that you like and dislike. But, not everyone can afford expensive brands, and I really like utilizing these brands even for people with a large budget.

Switching gears to the topic of the video, this chemical peel is nothing like an in office treatment. We just need to set expectations that you can use this, yes it can help with various concerns, but it is not like the same things we use (or should be using) in office.

pH plays an important role, alongside concentrations, and of course delivery systems in a formulation.

Lower pH = more aggressive.
Higher concentration = more aggressive.
A combination of both is what you get in office.

I will say that I think 2x a week is a bit much, and once/week is ideal, and removing additional exfoliants from your routine if you’re using this. I would also limit retinoid use when using this solution because it may cause too much irritation.

I'm so tired of people shitting on the ordinary. 🙄 Its super affordable and has honestly been a game changer for me. A lot of the products i use wouldn't be accessible to me if it wasn't for this brand!!

“Even at my medical spa…”
when she doesn’t even realize in-home and over the counter products are not the same as in office chemical peels… sis. That’s not your medical spa. You take notes and messages at the front desk.

Professional peels usually require to be neutralized. NONE of the over the counter peeling solutions require to be neutralized. You’d think that she’d be aware of that information as an esthetician 👀

I’m an esthetician and a huge fan of the ordinary… and a lot of over the counter brands.

Friendly reminder that the ph scale is logarithmic meaning a change of -1.0 represents a 10x increase in acidity. So from the numbers presented the in-office treatments are 100x stronger than the otc.

I personally love the ordinary. I’ve never had a problem with their products that wasn’t directly caused by my own misuse. I also love the packaging, it feels very sciencey and I’m just super into it

I love the Ordinary. Honestly a game changer. I use as needed. More in the winter and less in the warmer months

Biweekly is a strange word. Twice a week or every two weeks, biweekly works for both. I was confused as to why she was complaining that one solution could be used 2 or 3 times a week while the other solution could only be used biweekly (twice a week) until the guy mentioned the difference in pH. Like, Aahh, the other biweekly.

As for what this skin peeling solution thing is about, I have absolutely no idea. I was just scrolling on when this came up. I think it's safe to say enough YT for today.

I used it on my feet a few nights ago and the results, while incredible, are definitely not as harsh as the fear-mongering I’ve seen around it. When I use it on my face, there’s a slight tingle but not much more than the Vitamin C solution (in the tube).

The ordinary red peel was banned here in Australia (because of our sun, not because it's bad) so I don't really know what's in it but wouldn't it also be a blend of acids, not just a straight acid too? Which yes, PH is important but blended acids don't do the same thing as the high strength single acids you're gonna be getting in a clinic...

As a person who suffered from cystic acne for 20 years, Ordinary has literally been the only brand that has healed my skin and it's even significantly lightened my acne scars. It's affordable and easily accessible. Do your research on how you should use it and how often you should be using it

It’s crazy to hear that, when I literally used this exact mask as my resurfacing agent for skin cycling… And it literally helped my skin so much

I use it every other week and its done wonders for my skin. Just don't be stupid or reckless with it. Don't leave it on too long. Still can't forget the videos of people leaving it on for an hour or some crap like that and being shocked it burned their skin.

i followed this particular esthetician for about half a year before finally unfollowing. the women in my family have ALWAYS heavily hyped skin care, and some of the things she would talk about or say with the upmost confidence as if she knew for a fact that she was right were typically… well…. just not factual at all.
this is a great example. while i didn’t know the approximate ph of in office treatments, it’s quite easy to assume that they are much more aggressive than a product the average person can use at home. (i’ve been using the ordinary since high school. this isn’t necessarily a peel, but one of their best products (imo) that i use nightly and have for years is their 100% organic cold-pressed rose hip oil. not completely sure what the intended benefits are, but my personal experience with this oil is that when i wake up the next day, my skin’s blemishes are less apparent, as is the rosacea that plagues my lower right cheek. my fave is dewy and glowy without being greasy, and this usually lasts all day. once again, not sure what the intended benefits are, nor how much the other skin products i use carry responsibility, but i do notice a difference in my skin’s general appearance and texture when i stop using the oil nightly.)

as someone who used this specific product from the ordinary and DID really like it.... there is no way you could use this more than once a week if you don't already have like the most insanely resilient skin barrier.

The ordinary’s peel is great. I used it and compared it to doing a 50% glycolic peel (ouch. Stupid idea but I did look great). Honestly 2x a week isn’t too bad for the ordinarys one. Aha is gentle as a lamb comparatively lik
