CNBC got a first look inside Lyft's level 5 lab, where it builds self-driving cars that are being tested on roads now. Self-driving rides are also available to select Lyft passengers in Arizona and Las Vegas, where Lyft opened its app to autonomous vehicle companies Waymo and Aptiv. Lyft says it's completed more than 75,000 self-driving rides. Watch the video to see how the program works.

Youtube Andrew Yang (2020 presidential candidate), he talks a lot about how these inventions will affect jobs in the future, and how we can best take advantage of them to move our society forward!

I would love to own a self driving car. That way I would never have to drive anywhere. I will just sit back and enjoy the ride

Self driving car are coming. The question is how government and city will adapt to integrate it.

These companies are stupid. Right now when you drive for Lyft. Gas. Mechanical repairs and maintenance insurance is all on the drivers. When you have self driving card, . All the expenses are going to be on Lyft.

I really am waiting for the day riding autonomous cars on the roads. But the safety and security should be assured. I hope the technology becomes more stable to replace the human-driving cars.

Wondering how Lyft and Uber are claiming in court that they're not transportation companies but rather tech companies, yet, they're heavily researching ways of replacing the drivers! I hope they have already done the math of how they'll manage huge fleets of vehicles that need to be serviced on a regular basis - and how this will ultimately save them money!

Here is my opinion on making self-driving vehicles more acceptableby the public.
1) Need to explain the technology involved to the consumer - the sensors in the car, what data is processed over the network and in the car.
2) Secondary safety features - additional sensors / automatic or manual braking, crash resistant features, etc.
It is not a good argument when people say 40, 000 people died in car crashes and automated cars reduces it. According to me, I am a safe driver and I will never get into an accident. But giving control to a computer makes me uncomfortable if I don't understand it. Technology developers, especially in this case where it could be a life and death situation, need to always plan for this.

Some people are still skeptical about this. We have to understand technology is moving at a rapid pace, we either keep up or stay stuck in the past. #Simple

The future is looking great for Americans you go to whole foods to buy peeled oranges because you can’t peel it yourself now you want your car to drive for you🤣

The biggest hurdle to self driving cars is not simple perception alone.

The fact is there are numerous jobs at risk with the introduction of self driving cars and the majority of these people who will be actively undermining self driving perceptions in a wide scale individual to individual basis.

Yet perception manipulation of course goes both ways and the industry keen to do away with expensive drivers would of course campaign against it.

But ultimately the end result comes down to consumer the consumer demand for cheaper services and this means any initiative to cut costs by automation will win the long term battle against those trying to keep their jobs (or those who simply dislike/fear progress in general)

And finally no matter had or slow the start for automated driving, the fact is its based on learning programs that are procedural and repetitive (they take time but are designed for consistency) and this is where the human condition limits us from truly competing long term with machines as humans are not designed for constant perfection. We will eventually make mistakes and this gives the advantage to anything programmed to do repetitive tasks that includes a growing list of skill sets.
