Also, the fan culture for SM groups has always been extra psychotic (my first favorite group was from SM and those fandoms always have the wildest stories). JYP groups have occasional psycho fans (like Nayeon’s scary sasaeng and those people who kept messing with Youngjae and still do), but the fan culture that has been fostered over the years just isn’t the same. Think about any time a JYP artist announced they were dating. It was never as wild as when an SM artist did the same.

Onces are so funny. I saw a new video of Zion.t (apparently the first video I saw of him) and all the comments were flooded with "Ahjussi, take a good care of our Chaeyoung" and stuff like that. I love them sm❤😂

I think kpop fans need to grow up and realise that their faves have lives outside of being kpop idols and are also grown ass adults and so can do whatever the fuck they want. Idols cater to much to their needs that's why they think they can control an adult and stop them from living their lives

You can’t really compare the two. Even if you take aside the difference in industry experience, Karina is from SM. SM fans are known to respond really harshly to their favorite idols dating. Even if they’re from the same company (like Baekhyun and Taeyeon). SM idols have it a lot harder at times😅

Aespa has been a group for 3½ years they're not an early group. Fans NEED to let idols be happy. How would you feel if hundreds of people you don't even know demanded for you to breakup?

I really support/supported any Idol who was dating but I can kind of see why chaeyoung was mostly supported and even though every Idol gets hate for dating, sometimes it's too much like they call themselves fans after they embarrass themselves and hate on their Idols. I mean I would also be sad if one of my favorite Idols date(for example if Jake dated)I would still support them all the way.❤❤❤

Chaeyoung and Karina are 2 completely different type of idols. For starters, Chaeyoung is not the face of the group and compared to the rest of the members she’s not really that popular. She’s also not that prominent in any of Twice’s releases. Chaeyoung has always sort of been in the background and kind of overshadowed by the most popular members. And Chaeyoung, and Twice overall, are not necessarily seen as “sex symbols”.

Karina, on the other hand, for a lot of people IS Aespa. She’s it. She’s THE member. She’s also the star of many people’s disgusting fantasies. The whole premise of Aespa alone opened the door for fans to be this obsessive over her. None of the other members of Aespa would’ve gotten this backlash over dating. It’s only Karina and it’s for a very specific reason, she’s easily sexualized. That’s literally it. Comparing Karina’s dating to Chaeyoung’s is not an equal comparison at all.

The fact that she even had to apologize is absolutely disgusting and ridiculous. SM should’ve never told her to do that. They’re only allowing and enabling this behavior.

I don’t think that this has to do with how long they have been in the industry. That plays a small part in it. I think it depends on the popularity of the idol. If the idol is extremely popular, like Karina then the backlash is bigger.

If jungkook starts to date someone, the backlash is bigger than if RM dates someone in my opinion.

Although Chae’s bf Zion did get a lot of backlash from some onces who accused her of “queerbaiting” & even faceshamed Zion t. & accused Chae of apparently cheating on “Mina” or on them by dating a man 😂 But thankfully it’s not as bad anymore.

That being said, with twice being literally one of the biggest K-pop gg in the world headlining freakin stadiums.
The real reason is the seniority thing. Twice has been in the industry for almost a decade now, their fans are more mature & respectable & are more open to twice members dating now. While aespa? As stupid as it sounds, they’re still comparatively fresh & new so It’s just their crazy delulu fans.

If the company was okay with her dating you start interfering in her personal life !!! At this point there is no use of telling these so called fans to respect their idols' choices. Companies should not tell the idols to apologise for such things, instead they should support their idols and tell them to ignore the rude "fans" and continue with what they wish. It's just a matter of time... I'm a fan of Twice, so when Twice was in their early years, I always wanted them to just focus on their career and hope they restrain themselves from dating... When they're at their peak, just focus at work... That's the priority... Then after their success, after so long and having "seniority" in the industry, then we as fans want them to find a happy personal life... After a while, the new generation will take over peak... So instead of still fighting for the peak, nowadays they better focus on personal life and individual activities... Simple, focus on career first and after reaching seniority, do what ever you want, date who ever you want, fans will understand that idols also have their personal lives... Honestly nowadays, I hope that every member of Twice has someone in their life, as long as they are happy, fans will be happy too... So does to other idols, so it's understandable if some fans reacting like that to Karina...
