The reason why you need a special charger is not that it has a special set of batteries or its current/voltage output, but that the protection circuitry is not inside the handheld but in the charger brick.

this is almost perfect i just wish they would have put the R2 / L2 buttons slightly below and out like the true controller has them i know this would have made it thicker but it would have been worth it for the gain in comfort
