In this video, fractions are explained in a very easy and assessible manner. By the end of this video, you will be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions. You will also be able to solve real-life problems involving rates and proportions, using fractions. The questions are taken from exercise 3b, Book 1 of the New General Mathematics for Senior Secondary Schools.

08:09 - Question 3 - Determine which is the greatest of 7/9, 3/4, and 10/13. [WAEC]
10:51 - Question 5 - Express 0.575 as a fraction in its lowest terms.
11:52 - Question 7 - A flagpole 6.3 m long is driven 1.4 m into the ground. What fraction of the pole is above the ground? [WAEC]
13:11 - Question 9 - How much less than 6 is the sum of 2+(3/4) and 2+(4/5)?
14:46 - Question 11 - After spending 2/5 of her money on food and 1/6 on cosmetics, a woman was left with =N=1300. How much money did she have originally?
17:48 - Question 13 - Ayuba can hoe a yam plot in 5 hours and Salihu can hoe it in 4 hours. What fraction of the plot can each of them hoe in 1 hour? If they work together, what fraction of the plot will they hoe in 1 hour? How long will it take them to hoe the whole yam plot working together?
20:43 - Question 17 - 3/4 of the girls in SSS1 play basketball and 4/7 play volleyball. Every girl plays at least one of these games. If 27 girls play both games, how many girls are there in the class?
26:19 - Question 19 - A man made a will in which he left 4/9 of his money to his wife and 2/5 of the remainder to his eldest child. The rest was to be shared equally among his four younger children. If each of the younger children received =N=108,000, what was his wife's share?
