He is a decent guy to talk to about cars and plus he's had more experience in different cars than anyone and if he wants to buy another car and do it up fair play to him it's his life and his choices. They look like plastic items dipped in carbon. Genuine carbon fibre products tend to be more robust and less flimsy.

R44 and literally every other aftermarket car company in the UK uses imported fake carbon from China, which you can buy on Ebay/Ali-baba for a fraction of the cost.

I definitely see the appeal for carbon fibre and it does look great on your car. Porsche use plastic on the front splitters for their GT3 + GT2RS, because it costs much less to replace them when their owners scrap them. I'm guessing you'll be fine though!
