For $100, the MagSafe Battery pack isn't worth it, but I'd rather get this than the stand alone MagSafe charger 🤷🏻‍♂️

Points missed:
- You can see how much charge is left via the battery widget on your phone as this is MagSafe certified unlike the Anker.
- You can charge up your AirPods with this, you cannot wireless charge them with the Anker.
- You can use the Apple pack as a secondary battery which cannot be done efficiently on the Anker, hence the “smart”.
- The Anker is 5000mAh but is less efficient, so the Apple pack is in effect offering a similar charge.
- As it is MagSafe it communicates with the iPhone allowing for optimisation and safety precautions to keep cooler and preserve your battery longevity. It shuts down if it gets too hot and restarts when cool.
- If used with a MagSafe Apple case the Apple pack will be more secure.
- It can reverse wireless charge from the iPhone to the Apple pack, Anker cannot.

These extras make the Apple pack far superior and although the price is very expensive, I feel that it is worth the extra especially as in a few weeks you should get these cheaper on eBay or Amazon. Of course, like most YT reviewers they are one dimensional, where they value the best as a spec chasing exercise, ergo 5000mAh is better than 3000mAh and ignoring the efficiency! So if you spend £1250 on an iPhone and want to buy a cheap charger then that is an option, but it is probably false economy in the long run.

It's in line with the Apple aesthetic and I can appreciate that, but the build would be better in silicon altogether. I'd also much rather spend 45$ on the Anker Portable charger rather than the 100$ premium for the logo (yet I still seem to buy most apple products).

Is it worth it? No.

Get literally ANY battery pack that's wired and you'll probably get a lot more value for it.

even though your recommend not buying it, I found your review to be one of the best I've read and oddly enough, it actually makes this external battery quite appealing.
Is it for everyone? No. It is for those who need extra juice and don't have a charger handy or don't wish to wait. It's not a charger and I think that's where people are getting it wrong.
Internal batteries are constrained by phone size. This is an extra. Expensive? Yes, but so is a BMW and people buy them even though a Honda can take you to the same place.
Personal choice, but a quality product nonetheless.

Was intrigued but i really wish apple did a smaller capacity, thinner magsafe portable charger. Like 1000 mAh or something. Just something to get through that last hour or two in the day and doesn't add a lot of heft. This is the cleanest portable charger out there though

Is it normal to see the orange light ‘on’ only momentarily (about 5 sec) while charging? You can’t really check if the MagSafe is fully charged as you have to switch off the charging to see if the light will turn green momentarily or still orange. It’s a shame the orange light is not ‘on’ all the time and than turning green when battery is at 100%.

Great review, I am thinking about buying this as I do use my phone for a lot of filmmaking, hmmm... Wish they made a dark mode of this!
