I'd be more interested in a Prequel saga that puts us close to our current time-line. That way they can philosophically explore current events as you say. While also giving us the history of the first simulation and foundation of Zion.

2001: A Space Odyssey's production was in a race with the real-world moon landing, so if Matrix 5 really is about the emergence of a true AGI, then that would be a very close parallel with that epic movie.

Once you realize what The Matrix Resurrections actually is, a slap in the face of big studios for milking franchises, it's honestly pretty funny.
Agent Smith or rather the new reskinned agent smith actually explains this entire aspect early in the movie.

They need to incorporate more of the martial arts choreography into the next film. Those cool extended highly choreographed fight scenes are a staple of The Matrix but were pretty much non existent in resurrections.

I unironically loved Matrix 4. I recognize it's not for everyone, but it was different, bold, and - for me (perhaps alone!) really enjoyable. A 5th film does need to be BETTER, though.

If neo and trinity dont address the obvious cycle they and the humans are in theres no point in a sequel. The analyst basically won and it flew over alot of peoples heads. Which made the whole movie pointless because it was supposed to be neo learning from his past mistakes. Now hes focused on creating rainbows with trinity. You cant make this shit up 😂
