About this video: In this video, we show you how to download and install data packs in Minecraft 1.17. What are datapacks? Well, they are basically Minecraft mods for 1.17 that don’t require any third party mod loader or anything like they. Data packs work in vanilla Minecraft worlds without any other mods than the data packs themselves. They can do things like add additional stats to Minecraft, add gravestones to Minecraft, and even change world generation like putting crewed pirate ships on the ocean. Overall, data packs are a really cool way to add mods to Minecraft 1.17, so let’s jump right on into how to get data packs for Minecraft 1.17.

The first step of getting Minecraft 1.17 data packs is download some data packs. You can find a link in the description above to some of our favorite Minecraft 1.17 data packs that you can install. No matter what data pack you go with, the download process will be different. This makes it difficult us to really walk you through every step of downloading a data pack. However, if you are taken to an ad page, just make sure to click ‘skip ad’ in the top right.

Once you have your data pack downloaded, it is time to get your Minecraft 1.17 data pack installed. Most data packs can be installed without any additional action. However, some data packs require you to extra or unzip them to use. This is usually indicated in the file name. If you see this in a file, right click that file and click ‘extract all’. A folder will open, and you will see the data pack there. Drag it to your desktop for ease of use.

Now, open up Minecraft 1.17. From there, we can click on ‘singleplayer’. Then, click on the world you want to add data packs too. Data packs work on a per-world basis meaning if you want to add them to multiple worlds, you will need to install them for each world individually. Once you have clicked on the world you want to add your data pack Minecraft mods to in 1.17, click on ‘Edit’ in the bottom of Minecraft. Finally, click on the ‘open world folder’ button. This will take you to the world folder for your Minecraft singleplayer world.

In this folder, you will see a ‘datapacks’ folder. Open that folder, and you will be where you need to install your Minecraft 1.17 Data Packs. Just take the data packs you have downloaded, and drag-and-drop them into the datapacks folder. Then, come back to Minecraft. Once you are back in Minecraft, click ‘done’, and you can launch your world. You now know how to add mods to Minecraft 1.17 with data packs.
