Nightwish doesn't have a formula, but they have an unmistakable Nightwish sound, which comes from Tuomas (keys, composer) and Emppu (guitar). Stylistically they are really versatile and they go all over the map. Nightwish is definitely one of the most talented bands to ever hit the stage. Storytime (official live video) is usually good next step.

Guitarist, Emppu Vourinen is a highly underrated player. His genius is in his restraint...if the song doesn't require a big solo or a thick riff...he won't play it. He knows exactly what to do, what notes to play, on his custom ESP EV-1!

Song Of Myself from this concert, Last Ride of the Day, Masters of Rock, Slaying The Dreamer, Buenos Aries...all will suit you!

Now you just get a taste. Nightwish have something for everyone. Soft and sweet to hard in your face. Mixed with a few epic scores and some mind opening songs. Then you have the social commentary to just feel good songs. All preformed with energy and masterly talent.

Yes, that's live. lol. That... was a 3 octave glissando that Floor did in tandem with Marko. The studio version, from original lead singer Tarja Turunen era, only has his 2 octave slide. Marko sang quite a bit with them. Mostly backing or co-lead, but he did sing lead on a few, including The Islander and their cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes. Unfortunately he decided to leave the band in 2021 for personal reasons after 2 decades.
One of the heavier songs, and one of the few that Emppu really shreds on, they all play what the song needs, and aren't out there to show off.
The song is about a romance that has died. It's over, time to move on.

The more you listen to them, the more you'll find that everything they do is in service of the music. They aren't your typical rock band (verse, verse, chorus, verse, solo, verse, chorus, finish). Nightwish's music isn't written, it's composed with layers of sounds, timing changes, key changes and musical transitions. Each song is different, yet somehow, still has a Nightwish feel. Enjoy the ride.

Epicness right there on that stage. The best live band ever in my humble opinion. I had not heard of Nightwish or Floor until around 12 months ago and had a bias against metal and assumed symphonic metal wouldn't be to my taste but OMG how wrong was I. So glad a friend pestered me in to giving this phenomenal band, all masters of their craft, a listen and I have since busied myself listening to the wonderful Tarja and Annette eras of Nightwish and now the incomparable Floor. 🙏👍😊♥️
