It used to be the case that at least the American homes were super affordable so even though they were lower quality, the average American could actually achieve the goal of owning a house. However, now they’re ridiculously expensive AND low quality.

I’m glad I live in a 100 year old house built up of solid brick. It’s been here long before I was, and it’ll be here long after me. The other houses in my neighborhood are also built out of brick and stone. You’d think they were millionaire houses nowadays, but nah, it’s just what was considered basic building standards 100 years ago

Happy New years! All jokes aside it might be cool if you got a series about different codes around the world. Or even different states. I feel like there will be builders willing to rip people off everywhere. Edit I've worked in big cities on brick and plaster. It's not like we don't have that.

Houses built in Europe are built to pass on. Homes in the US hope to survive the mortgage time. Big difference in building practices and quality. 😊😊

Never and I say again NEVER will I buy a chicken coop house!!! Just purchased my third house and its block. Yep it’s older, but at least it was made to last. If buyers started demanding better quality for their money and stopped buying these cheap homes this might stop!

My old house was made in 1890, and it had the huge plaster walls too. It was so hard to paint.

Depends where you live. In Florida it’s common to have block wall built house that they cover up

And you're lucky if the baseboards are even straight. But, all you have to do it's squint.

And my house’s walls are made of wood, drywall and fiber cement (siding) not paper and air. Funny how bad construction quality has gotten in some states
