A tragic plane crash occurred at South Korea's Muan airport, where Jeju Air flight 2216, carrying 181 people, veered off the runway while landing, likely resulting in the deaths of 179 people. The crash occurred in South Jeolla province as the flight, returning from Thailand, made a failed belly landing attempt, crashing into a fence and erupting in flames. Emergency services began operations promptly around 9 am, rescuing two survivors from the rear section of the Boeing 737-8AS. The crash is believed to have been caused by bird contact, which malfunctioned the landing gear, compounded by adverse weather conditions. Among the 181 on board, 175 were passengers and six were flight crew.
