I love the cheery music, the no-sweat-slight-grins of the workers, the easy-peasy no-more-than-10-minute steps each phase involved is broken up with...but any realistic situation involving a layman will consist of a week's worth of time (minimum) and plenty of unexpected costs from the homeowner screwing up pieces of wood or breaking their cheap tools, and this is all assuming you glide by any king-shit towny inspector not giving you grief over codes. Adding to this, if you're lucky enough to find a contractor that is at least diligent enough to come by your home to give you an honest quote on the day and time they tell you they'll swing by to give you said quote, you can easily expect it to run well into the thousands. Rightfully so given everything you see in this video, from supplies to experience, not to mention lack of line markings in the ground prior to the dig of the concrete pad (which may or may not have required rebar).

I need to get the book on how to build a deck, or hire someone to do it for me. That seems to be a little complicated for me.

No utilities markers, no hard hats, no ear plugs, no safety vest, no work gloves, no safety harness, no cones or caution yellow tape, no flagger, no lunch break or cigarette breaks, no on site psychologists, no random assholes standing around doing nothing, no foremen, etc.

Really should just use either 4x4 or 6x6  post to attach the stringers and let the weight go to the post and not on the deck it self.
