I lived in NYC for more than a decade, teaching English to people from all over the world. Whenever the "rude New Yorker" question came up, I gave the exact same scenario as you just did. I said "stand on a street corner looking lost and within 30 seconds someone will stop and ask if you need help. They'll give you directions and then they'll be gone"...

3:00 - YES there is an update on the Unico monitors. They are shipping a replacement circuit board for the monitor itself, that you can pay for shipping and install yourself. That is supposed to fix alot if not all the issues. I still need to order mine and try it out.

But there is also the bandaid fix that I use on my Neo Geo where you buy one of the cheap $13 CGA to VGA Adapters (not a converter) off ebay, then use that to send your arcade board's RGBs signal directly to the Unico's VGA port. For whatever reason, the Unico will read the signal and display the contrast correctly into the VGA port, vs into the RGBs input pins. Go figure. But it works, and I consider the Unico the best flat screen option for arcade hardware even with the flaws.
