Agile vs Waterfall Project Management

Let me preface this video by saying #Agile is a mindset with principles and frameworks to guide teams for how to deliver work. This work can vary and is not limited to project work, however as many companies use projects as a way to deliver work, it’s natural for it to come up in this context.

With that being said, waterfall over the years has gotten a bad reputation as slow and something of the past when really it is another tool we should consider if it better fits the situation at hand.

Agile frameworks do not work best for every situation as they require foundational changes to the way organizations are used to working and so if an organization does not have an appetite or the means for change, Agile will fail.

It’s important to differentiate between these ways of working because there are tradeoffs to both and instead of focusing on which is perceivably is better, it’s more valuable to understand the tradeoffs you’re willing to contend with.
