Hey Kendall I am a beaver trapper and I just wanted to give u a little bit of advice and a reason they could be going around your trap is because it might be to shiny.

Ideally you want to use castor from another location. Each beaver has a different scent to identify them. You and I couldn't tell the difference but they can. The castor mound is a territorial claim so a foreign scent will upset them and force them to remove the new mound. Put a foothold on a drowner in a step below the mound. Trapper J taught me all of this lol.

I gotta say as a 30 year beaver and nuisance trapper this was very entertaining watching you figure things out lol. Seriously though if you ever have any questions or whatever feel free to contact me I’ll be happy to help advise you. That said, all the learning and growing pains especially with a buddy, will actually be the memories you enjoy for a lifetime. I lost my trapping partner and the memories through the years are pure gold! Keep on going and tight chains y’all
