Great workmanship and beautiful machines, all this needs to be kept alive.

I work in a spindle repair shop (we rebuild the turning heads of lathes, milling, grinding, and all kinds of machines) but goddamn, the overhead hoist is an absolute necessity 😂 I couldn’t even imagine the hassle it would be to work on some of the 1000-1500 lb spindles without it.

Someone is very skilled. Welding the base with minimal warping takes a lot of know how.

I use a crane almost exactly like this every day to remove/install cement block molds around the block machine. Wouldn't do my job without it.

That right there is an absolutely awesome design for a train. It truly is and it’s simple and effective and it really wouldn’t take that much to install one of these. If at the time of construction you adequately, reinforce the floor in that area and it’s a whole lot easier than A full overhead trolley crane

I've seen a couple of your vids. It's interesting to know what things cost. I'm suprised that everything is so expensive. You're a lucky person to be doing what you like. My dad told me if I found an occupation that I loved, I'd never have to work a day in my life!

Maybe fill the base of the jib crane with sand to improve stability? Could dig up the sand if you wanted to move it around

It really looks like you know what you're doing. I would call you a professional.

All you had to do was pour a reinforced concrete pad, drill 4" holes in the base plate. Anchor the base, fill with concrete and vibrate. You should have more than a ton and a half on the base.
Sooner or later you will overload your jib because it's human nature to forget.

My question is does it get in the way of the disco ball?

Hell of a nice piece of gear, as with pretty much everything else there in your shop, brother.
Keep up the good work

I've worked on industrial cranes for about 15 yrs. I gotta say that is a little sketchy. I'd shell out a couple of bucks and have an industrial/ structural engineer take a quick look at that

if it's making you money it doesn't cost anything

You might want to change the hoist. Those are GIS ones are notorious for having slipping break, which you can barely adjust.
