Season five will chronicle the aftermath of last season’s horrific events and find the characters coming to terms with the consequences of their choices – as they make the realization that if they really want to change their futures, they must first face the past. Helen (Tierney) begins the season involved in an intoxicating new affair with a charismatic movie star (guest star Claes Bang), who offers to give her everything she’s been missing. Noah (West) meanwhile has to swallow his pride and his jealousy and step in to take care of his family in her absence. But just when things seem to have stabilized, a chance encounter with someone from the distant past sets in a motion a sequence of events that brings them both to their knees. Paquin stars as Alison and Cole’s now adult daughter Joanie Lockhart, who returns some years in the future to piece together the truth about what happened to her mother, bringing the whole story full circle.

I just watched this, the finale. It is a real tear-jerker. They wrap everything up and it's just so beautiful. It's incredible I'm going to rewatch it right now.

This show's finale was brilliant. I cried and I laughed (Bruce tied to the chair had me in stitches). And what beautiful dialogues, I'll never say it enough, this show is pure gold and reflects the ups and downs of everyday life. I sure will miss it.

It seems like Noah and Helen will find their way back to each other and raise Eddie (Sierra's and Vic's baby). We see him in the future as the character named EJ. He then has a connection with Joanie, Allison's daughter, which is an interesting coincidence. I think we will definitely see Joanie interact with old Noah, who will tell her how brave and beautiful her mom was.

The Affair has honestly been one of my favourite shows on TV for a very long time and all 5 seasons were just as captivating as each other I could never predict a storyline or the twists in between and from the theme tune to the cast to the separate perspectives throughout the whole series it’s been one of the most original and underrated shows in the last 5 years. It’s a shame it was in the same era as GOT (which I’ve never seen) because I think a lot of other shows which were stunning and more subtle/ naturalistic got overlooked by viewers. Even when new characters got introduced like Vick and Ciara it always added depth there were never filler characters for the sake of it the character development in every person was so well thought out and so sentimental and above all else my gosh THE TALENT from the adult actors made the whole show so believable it always felt like you were a fly on the wall in these characters lives never like you were watching TV. (I watched this 18-23!) time flies when your watching good art! I’m really excited for what the creators have coming next, thank you for the entertainment!🥂 💜
