Marvel Announces Robert Downey Jr.'s Return as Dr. Doom

Robert Downey Jr. may have died in the MCU as Iron Man, but he's coming back as the Fantastic Four's nemesis Dr. Doom.

The surprising announcement was made at the 2024 San Diego Comic Con during the Marvel Studios Panel where they also announced the Russo brothers are back to direct the next two Avenger films. Dr. Doom will be the main villain in the new timeline of the MCU.

I'm a HUGE RDJ fan....have been since the early 80's? But him playing VVD is such a typical and constant problem that Disney continues to make? Aside VVD being 6'2 in height (without armor) and 6'7 with full armor, and actor (RDJ) who stands 5'8, just doesn't make any sense to me? All these tall, well built men in the wrestling world should have been considered for the role? This is what drives me crazy about ALL ABOUT MONEY INSTEAD OF SUBSTANCE? In the old days, Hollywood would take an unknown actor or actress and attach them to a movie project and roll the dice on them? A character like VVD is bigger than any actor that would play him? Why not take a gamble on an unknown that's closer to the description in height, appearance and size? Disney seems as though they only care about the popularity of an actor, instead of the actual character the actors are playing? Again, RDJ is my guy, and I'm not blaming him at all, but it just seems that Disney only cares about box office sales and the fact that EVERYONE loves RDJ?

Cillian Murphy would be a more fitting choice for Dr. Doom than Robert Downey Jr. due to his ability to portray dark, complex characters with a chilling intensity. Robert Downey Jr., you immediately think of a charming, playboy millionaire—he's synonymous with Tony Stark. While he excels at that charismatic, witty persona, Dr. Doom requires someone who can embody a darker, more menacing presence. Cillian Murphy's intense, brooding demeanor makes him a more fitting choice for Doom, bringing out the character's cold intellect and underlying malevolence in a way that RDJ's signature style might not capture.

I can sense a disturbance in the marvel universe. Therefore there is a fine chance where the producers just said that there is "proof of unimaginable possibilities in the marvel multi universe" and Tony Stark alive in another universe after his snap from endgame and became evil because of power and became Dr. Doom 🤔. Theorists...what do you think? Is there a possibility in any earth not just in the original earth 616 but any earth where Tony became evil? Cause that would be a good movie.
