Game of Thrones Season 8 - The Golden Company Explained!

Alright what's going on guys it's Trev back again here to bring you another video. In this one I will be explaining or giving my thoughts on the Golden Company which we will see in the 8th and final season of the series.

Cersei has sent Euron to get them from Essos. What does this mean for our allied forces of Jon Snow and Daenerys? Will the Golden Company be able to defeat Jon and Daenerys after the great war is over? What role will Jaime play in all of this? Could Cersei actually be victorious in the end? Let's discuss.

The Golden Company Motto - "Our Word is as good as gold."

Warcry - "Beneath the gold, the bitter steel!"

As always, thanks for watching everyone!

- Trev

Best thing about Game of Thrones is that no one knows how this will end since the show is ahead of the books. I love the mystery of it all.

In the show, the last ruler (The one true king) who used sellswords found out the hard way that sometimes even gold isn't enough to buy their loyalty. Being caught in a blizzard long enough, sent them packing. That was before winter even arrived.

There's just going to be a field full of melted gold and body parts after Dany gets done with them

Imagine what ends up happening is the Golden Company never ends up helping her because instead Euron took the money and peaced the fuck out so then a desperate Cersei decides to try and ally with the Night King.

I have a suspicion that Cercie is going to experience a Brave Heart moment when the Irish conscripts arrive and turn on the English. The golden company will arrive but it will turn out to be Daario Naharis and the second sons instead and they will turn on Cercie.

I hope that all the emphasis about the Golden Company never breaking contract... means that they will, in fact, break a contract. If Jaime turns against Cersei, Brienne against oaths, and Daenerys against pursuing the Iron Throne, I think everyone's kind of getting set up for going against their instincts for the greater good. Everyone except for Cersei and Euron. They need to go.

As for Euron, I worry about this: "Don't forget the prophet Lodos, who promised that the Drowned God would rise up and destroy Aegon the Conqueror."

You didn't mention the Blackfyre/Targaryen background of the Golden Company. The company was formed by an legitemised exiled Targaryen basterd (a Blackfyre) and in the books they currently support 'Young Griff', supposed to be the last living son of Rheager and Ellia.

Nice Video, Trev! Can you make a video about Rhaegar? Do you think he could still be alive?

What does an entire army of mercenaries do when they're not currently employed in fighting a war?? Like, has this huge freelance army just been sitting around with nothing to do for the entire series, or are we to assume that there are lots of other wars going on in this realm that the books and show just don't touch on?

Q/A Hey Trev, could it be possible that Euron will betray Cercei and use the Golden Company to fight the army of the dead with Jon? He could realize that fighting the Nights King and the Whites is more important than Cercei's war.

The TV show seems to have combined the story arcs of Cersei and a fake Targaryen pretender called Aegon who leads the golden company to Westeros in the books.

To anyone who might have an idea, is there a possibility that Jaqen H'ghar might be with the Golden Company? We haven't seen him for a while now so think it'd be interesting if he somehow ended up there. Would be cool to see a reunion between him and Arya.
