Shipping Romanogers was a losing game all along, wasn't it?

Healthy relationships based on a solid friendship are too boring, that's why none of the MCU directors thought that Steve/Natasha was a good idea...but somehow Evans and Johansson consistently sold us that meet cute + slow burn combo, from Avengers 1 to Endgame? Sorry I don't buy it, and I can't stand all these half-assed arguments that Steve and Natasha were always supposed to be platonic friends. All those looks, all those scenes when they shared the shield, they were just to say "look how beautiful this M-W platonic friendship is?" Gtfo. If they were so bent on giving platonic relationship its spotlight they could have given Clint and Natasha more screen time, or Tony and Natasha. And they definitelt could have bothered giving her an actually believable relationship with Bruce. It wouldn't have been so hard, goodness.

Someone clearly changed their minds about Romanogers and tried to pair Steve with Sharon instead, then realized how cringe-worthy it was so brought Peggy back.
And sure, let's reduce the founder of S.H.I.E.L.D. to a last minute love interest. Yeah, let's ignore the fact that Peggy herself told Steve to move on in CATWS, that Steve told Tony that he felt settled in the 21st century in AoU, and that Peggy was given a proper send off in CACW. Let's ignore the well-established uplifting relationship Steve built with Natasha over a decade and do some mental gymnastics to give him a happy ending with a Peggy Carter from an alternate universe...where the original Steve of that universe was still in the ice, yes? How did that work? Like, who wrote that???
