The thing is that Fallon is very charismatic, so when he breaks it’s funny and endearing. That isn’t the case with everyone, so that’s why it worked for him.

Fallon is the worst cast member of all time imo. He is so fake, laughs at everything, and cannot just do his job without making it all about him. Ohh how I hope the stories of Tracey Morgan threatening him if he broke character or started laughing for no reason are true. I really like TM and think he is funny, and my opinion of him would only be better if it was. Or if he actually punched him in his stupid unfunny face.

Saying Fallon is 'the king of breaking character' is like saying a horrible baseball player is 'the king of never hitting the ball'. Will Farrell is an example of the opposite. Example of the opposite: Will Farrell: stays in character, hilarious, and he is actually a talented actor.
