Knew a guy who bought one, only had it a couple years, then traded it in on a pickup. I Thought it was the coolest car ever.

I loved Starsky & Hutch.
And their car. Every body loved this show and wanted that car.
My sister had a Ford blue torino just like it.

SEE! Drifting cars has been around for a while. It only became drifting after it was named that, we used to just call it power sliding.

Learning about the cars in all those old television shows is a hobby in itself.

A friend of mine grew up in California and his aunt worked for the studio that produced the show. He turned 16 a few years after the show ended and somehow, his parents managed to BUY CAR #1 for him for his 16th birthday! Imagine driving that to High School at 16!

Dept of Joyless Sticklers, Buzzkill division would like you to know LOWER gears were used for burnouts, not taller gears. Lower = quicker takeoff, taller = top speed. Hence the need for the placard “Do Not Exceed 50 mph” because it risks blowing the engine due to high RPM

I used to love the torque the 460 provided back In the day as it pulled you back in the seat . No replacing cubic inches

For myself...growing up in the 70s and 80s. It was awesome to see these cars that people would recreate. My sisters boyfriend had the same car here..."Red tomato" with a white stripe and my brother's buddy had the General Lee. My sister eventually married and divorced the same guy and several years later..he still had the Torino....but the engine had been pulled and the car rotting away in the driveway. Guy started a project and never finished it...same went for the house.

Own a 74 Cougar XR7 still, bought in 1987. Has a 400 in it & loved power sliding it around like S & H did. Airforce Buddy owned a 1975 Tomato (Starsky h Hutch mobile) He saved & bought a ton of aftermarket parts for the car but couldn't install them. He sold the lot to me for about 1/3 what he paid. The Eldebrock Cam, Lifters, Intake and Carter AFB w chrome valve covers still reside on my 400 😊

This show along with the Rockford files, was my favorite TV show until the Dukes of Hazard and Knight Rider came out.
