Ricoh GR Digital III - The Ruby Tuesdays, Land Of The Free

Friday 21st April 2023, I was asked by The Ruby Tuesdays to document their live night in Clitheroe.

I know from photographing the band previously, that their gigs can get quite rowdy, with a good old mosh pit and thrash about by enthusiastic fans keen to let their hair down and let rip! So aside from getting standard band shots, I decided I needed to get into the action, right in there in the middle of the throng. This is we’re the Ricoh GR Digital III came in.

The Ricoh GR Digital III is a 2009, CCD sensor, professional pocket camera. Not to be confused with the newer GR models (the naming conventions are confusing). All the cameras are essentially the same form factor, only the sensor and other developmental changes over time tell the various models apart.

Setting to the camera snap focus to 0.5m, f9.0 aperture, slow the shutter down to get some motion blur, pop the flash, and away you go. Photos captured in RAW and edited in Lightroom Mobile on an iPad.
