PEMAC Asset Management Association of Canada in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and a group of dedicated member volunteers, have collaborated over the past year on an initiative to learn how municipalities can better leverage the asset master data that is available when assets are created or acquired.

Listen to a panel of experts will share more about the project and the new resources available during this recorded lunch and learn session.

Initially focused on leveraging municipal asset master data at the acquisition stage, the project evolved into: The Case for Maintenance Management Readiness.

The team discovered that at a minimum, maintenance management readiness could be advanced by helping municipalities to specify what master data they must receive at turnover to operations and maintenance, and in what format.

Beyond this, the team determined that as municipalities advance in both maintenance management readiness (during the acquisition phase), and maintenance management (during the operations and maintenance phase), they have tremendous opportunities to improve reliable service delivery and lower environmental footprint while saving money if the full lifecycle of the assets is taken into consideration.

The results of the project have culminated into the development of a new course, as well as a set of three knowledge products: a Practitioner's Guide, a Whitepaper and a Business Case. This information will support ongoing improvements of organizations across all sectors in this area.

The project focused on the public sector, however the insights gained will benefit organizations across all sectors.
