How to Make a Shag Rag Rug from Old Shirts Easily

A shag rag rug is the perfect way to use up old shirts or other rag material you might have laying around the house. The most common method is to use t-shirts, but you can use the same technique to make a denim rug from old jeans or any other type of thick material.

i remember this when i'm in gradeschool, it's one of our projects, we just cut fabrics or buy left over fabrics from the tailoring shop and then we knot it to a sack.

Do you have any suggestions on how much material material to purchase for a specific size rug especially since it will be cut into strips. I'm not speaking of the base but the actual strips that I will be cutting I'm going to be making mine out of t-shirts and don't know how many t-shirts I should purchase.
