Your suspension is at full hang and will never go down that far unless air born
Once you put the weight of the truck you bring the suspension to ride hight location and will not have any cv bind

I don’t like how diff drops that only roll the front 2 mounts down on a Toyota in turn lifts the very poorly designed pinion gear bearing out of the oil and drys up and blows the entire diff up …..

Having Over extended max drop out travel your cvs will bind like in video

We at our shop don’t raise yotas past 2.5” without addressing cv bearing upgrade
And focus on max drop out and keep it within spec so this doesn’t happen

If you want more lift don’t add spacers or wrong application shock lengths or your cvs will bind

If you did want more lift opt for the full crossmember replacement style kits that completely relocate the diff in a flat lower position keeping the pinion gear submerged in oil and happy

Just do manual hubs and you ain’t gotta worry about it.

Every vehicle is different, every drop is different. Test your Offroad vehicle at full droop before asking if you need one or not..

Add some limit straps you’ll be good to go

The upper full compression is then going to bind

Limit straps would be a much better solution to that

But how lifted is that truck. I keep seeing people say any thing over 2.5in you need a diff drop for a 4th gen 4runner. But my diff currently sets lower than my wheel hubs at stock hight with 3in of lift I would think the cv's would be angled an equal amount in the opposite direction preventing binding but would it cause the axle to wear faster when they go level if the bearings are hitting bottom of the cup?
I've never lifted or lowered any vehicle before but I'm trying to do an at least 2.5 in lift on the front and a 1.5 in the rear with 33s

Put a load on the suspension and that approach angle changes. It is fine without.

Not that i don't agree with the diff drop, but that truck isn't at ride height. At ride height it won't rub.

This is incorrect information because the vehicle is at full droop.

Thanks for the video. Seems that a few people in the comments don’t understand your point. I get it.

Just call up 74Weld and buy portals. Problem solved. (With the truck, not your bank account) 😂

I shopped for a toy. owners are too proud to sell em. ended up buying a v6 manual amigo. 5k later I have a brand new engine and clutch. dana 44 rear and 10 bolt front diff. most guys don't even work on thier own toy so all that pride comes from repair receipts

It’s not suppose to lock at full droop with a coil over unless there’s spacers staked on it. That’s when you run into that issue. Adjustable coil overs are usually the same length as stock.

Will I need an alignment after the diff drop?
