Battlefield 1 has some gadgets which are criminally underused. The trench periscope is one of those gadgets and it may well be the worst case of a community ignoring something that's actually useful. Because the trench periscope is awesome. 1 person using this gadget well can have a truly huge impact upon team effectiveness. Today I'll give you my periscope tips and tricks and try to convince you to use it more often. Trust me, you should give it a try.

Love spotting while hiding behind a rock or in a trench because it looks over it and keeps you safe

Sadly most scouts are greedy and usually don’t care anyways and just camp in the back, but it does help a lot if used by a team player. Makes it easy to clear off flags knowing where most of the team is

Been using the Trench Periscope a fair bit recently and really enjoyed it so far, it's nice to be able to get the drop on enemies over range. I have been trying to get to get the periscope spot assists recently but find my teammates still manage to avoid looking at the glowing enemy far too often.

periscope + flare is usually my gadget loadout for scout. so fun spotting someone with the periscope, popping up from behind cover, and killing them before they even have a chance to react.

really good on Verdun playing for French. that hill gives you great view of everything and helps to keep the closest 2 flags clear and help prevent flanks.

I got 3rd on the leaderboard one time just using the periscope and spotting flares. I hid in the grass on the hills of Empires Edge. I think the grass blocks the glint

I use the trench periscope all the time when using any scoped Scout rifle.
Comes in handy when you need to draw fire, know the range, and spot enemies from safety.

I like the trench periscope a lot more than the flare gun. You can get lots of points with it by camping somewhere for a while and spotting the enemy for your team. It's quick and easy to use, much more so than trying to use the scope on your weapon.

In addition to revealing individual enemy snipers (I HATE snipers), I have neutralized a lot of large-scale attacks against my side by spotting every enemy as he comes into view, allowing a handful of our guys to take out 10 or 20 enemy soldiers very quickly. It also works great against planes.

I even get a certain vindictive pleasure from it. "Oh, you're going to attack my guys now? Surprise, motherf*ckers! Don't you wonder how we keep finding and killing you so fast?"

Sometimes (it can be a little flakey) the periscope will even spot enemies inside buildings who are invisible from the outside, not looking out a window or anything, as well as hidden vehicles like the arty campers.

If you ditch the flare gun, you can equip K-bullets instead and do some very interesting stuff.

It is a wonderful tool to use on the new DLC map, I just love sitting on the big boat marking up every single enemy on the map

This gadget is so underused and unappreciated it's not even funny. I'll change to scout when I notice there's a lack of spotting going on or lack of flares on objectives. I suck at sniping itself, but I'll use this gadget to spot the hell out of the enemy team without firing a shot. Find a nice hiding place just outside enemy controlled objectives, and spot all the enemies spawning and running towards your team flags.

I used this very heavily the last two days, and I believe it helped us win numerous games. I got massive points without even getting many kills.

I especially love how it lights up vehicles, planes, and snipers, and then everybody on your team starts shooting them! It's really hard for pilots and assaults to miss a bright red glowing tank or artillery truck. This is a great tool that definitely helps even the playing field for the little guy.
