About JamesandKarla:

Hey everyone! We are husband-and-wife architectural/interior photographers based in NYC. We started our video channel to act an artistic intervention to help raise awareness of the importance of small independently-owned businesses and the unique character these shops add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City.

In our videos we will showcase portraits of storefronts and shop owners in New York City & beyond and capture moments of city life that capture the spirit, energy and cultural diversity of individual neighborhoods. We also bring our dog, Hudson along whenever we can.

We made it our mission to thoroughly document unique 'mom-and-pop' stores when we began to notice the alarming rate at which they were disappearing. Thanks for the Greenwich Village fall foliage livestream. Which James describe the day as a song by John Coltrane and Miles Davis called "Flamingo Sketches". Our heroes start at Washington Square Park, looking at the leaves and greenery, then decided to walk Waverly Pl, passing the "Washington Square Hotel", "Banbo", and "The Waverly Dinner". Then went to Gay street, which is known to be haunted. Afterwards, they continue walking down Greenwich Ave, where they passed places like Jefferson Market Garden and Mom and Pop shops like "Mah and Dahn Bakery", "Jones Road", "Pinky Promise", "Gottino", Roey's", "Apollo Bagels" and "Li-Lac Chocolate ". Along the way, the marvelous Mr Hudson meets doggies names Matilda and Sally. They continued to walk passed shops like "The Waverly Inn", "Tea and Sympathy" and "A Salt and Battery", then passed "The Walker Hotel" and "The Quad Cinema". Afterwards, it started to rain and they decided to end the stream. Thank you so much for a great livestream and may you guys enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Carolyn M. Hello you lovely people thanks for the memories. Enjoyed the walk today the light was so even like twilight. I loved some of those Town Houses that would be the cats meow. This is something I noticed after paying all that money they park in the street? It appears to me that way. you tell me because I don’t know. Then I would buy a Horse Stable or a Fire Station so I can park off the street. But that’s just me that would be a bother. Funny that people still had Halloween stuff still out on their stoops. Yesterday was Christmas feelings and today is Halloween. Those chocolates gave me a craving. Like when I was a child my Mother would make us a basket on Easter and fill it with Fanny May Chocolates. Yum ! Mr. Joe would of loved that bagel and I would go for the fish and chips. Emotionally I feel I am British I have Yorkshire tea in the afternoons. For a nice cup of tea and I subscribe to Garden Life Magazine. So that British store I would frequent all the time. I wonder if they have Picnic candy bars love those.
