Watch this diver getting face to face with the Longimanus (Oceanic whitetip shark) at a shark dive at Elphinstone Reef in Egypts Red Sea. Part 3/3.

The longimanus like many other shark species is critically endangered due to the overfishing by industrial fishing and the constant demand for shark fins from Asia. The video was taken at the Elphinstone Reef in egypts red sea. A calmn and relaxed longimanus is swimming close through a group of divers before he gets face to face with one of the divers. The video has been taken in late October 2021. If you dive with the Longimanus stay relaxed and calm to avoid an attack. Attacks usually only happen because of wrong behaviour.

WOW. That's one of the few sharks I'm very afraid of since they have the reputation of eating humans from shipwrecks etc. But wow she was beautiful and not at all upset with you all, she was just checking you out. I noticed when she swam up to the divers, her eye didn't roll back to protect it, so that tells me she was not intending on biting or anything, just curious. That was awesome. What a beautiful animal.

This one is relaxed but curious. His fins are pointing straight instead of downwards, a sign that it will not display agressive behaviour.

Shark sure seems very confident.. I dunno, I would not keep my eye off that thing :s ....Oceanic White are not the safest... especially in the Red Sea where they lure them in with bait and splash sounds, so the tourists can see them... so many incidents happend there !

Früher durfte man noch schnorcheln am Elphi, damals gabs aber auch noch große Longis, das war schöner.

The EU subsidizes open sea fishing and is a major transit market for illegally caught fins. We can vote for this to stop.
