In this, the last aria from Mozart's opera "Don Giovanni," Donna Anna tells Don Ottavio, her fiancé, not to say that she's being cruel to him because she's still mourning the death of her father, the Commendatore. (She doesn't know that the Commendatore is going to get his revenge and then some in the next scene, one of the most dramatic in classical opera). It's essentially a lyrical aria and showpiece for the prima donna, and when Joan Sutherland sang it at the MET in 1967 she was crowned "Donna Joanna" by one of the reviewers. I think just about any kind of bel canto aria works well on wind instruments because they display facility in playing legato. Here's my take on "Non mi dir" on the oboe.
