I don't think changing windows appearance performance has any effect at all nowadays, it used to be a thing in 1999, maybe I am dumb or something but I've never seen any fps improvement by changing it to best performance or best appearance

UPDATE: I have a decent gaming laptop but it was still being sluggish, particularly in Baldur's Gate 3. I tried everything I could think of, but to no avail. These tips seemed to have helped. There were some settings that I just didn't know existed.
