A question that showed up on a no calculator portion. You can do this question in 10 seconds if you remember this strategy.

I would have doubled the top equation so that we would have equal Y coefficients on both equations. Given that they both equal something different all we have to do is now giving them matching X values, which would be -3 . This is built upon the fact that the system of equations cannot both equal itself and a different number

-6, because if you divided the equation on the bottom by -2 after substituting “a”, y and. -y will eliminate and 6/-2=-3 and -3x + 3x =0, therefore so solutions.

not c1≠c2

consider

x+2y = 3
10x+20y = 30

this system has infinitely many solutions instead of no solutions.

They are two straight lines, if the system has no solution then the lines dont cross, so x has the same coefficent

Or you can make it so that the determinant of the matrix containing the coeffisients is equal to 0
