After the initial reveal during Computex 2024, Intel finally took the wraps off their next-gen SOC called Lunar Lake for good during IFA 2024 in Berlin.
We have been early to get some hands-on impressions, and well, the next few months might be very interesting for mobile CPUs.
Please enjoy our early preview, and if you want to get into more details, be sure to check our coverage on the website:

Thanks for the video. The competition is welcome. Hoping for machines with 15-16 inches screens, numpad and new cpus. Options are scarce and very expensive. :(

Hopefully they're more accurate than AMD's marketing department... 🙄

I'm all for Intel an want them to succeed (and especially kick Apple's ass). Many of the graphs shown here compare Series 2 Core Ultra *9* to Series 1 Core Ultra *7*, which really seems like cheating (with the hope that people won't notice it).

Bro, I will be very honest.
I have been watching your videos for about 3-4 months. The quality of your videos is amazing. I have also checked out your website. And I thought that you had around 500K subs.
This channel is really underrated. You deserve way more subs.
Thank you for the amazing content. Your work is thorough.

Any news on when the new MSI Claw comes? These numbers look great (especially comapred to the hx 370 that hasn't even got to the handhelds at this point), it seems like a nice upgrade for my Legion Go.

Looking very promising. I'd really like this with more P cores, but with a similar architecture (efficiency first). I don't think Arrow Lake will be quite what I'm looking for. I want something high end, similar to my M3 Max, but for PC instead.

Will there be new lenovo legion slim 5 14 equipped with this chip or with AMD ?

point to note is FSR and XeSS use different values for their base upscaling resolutions which could be why you are seeing higher/lower numbers.

Competition is better for everyone and i hope Intel deliver this time. Amd need a kick in the ass after milking their consumer with lazy trash CPU like zen 5 aka zen 4 refresh.

Looking forward to your comparison of these new intel chips against the recent zen 5 mobile chips that have come out! It's an interesting time to be in the market for a new laptop!

price will be the main problem

omnibook lunar lake starts at 1499 while the zen 5 and qualcomm versions start at 1149

It's sensible for ultrabooks to prioritize efficiency over performance, given their typical use in browsing, office tasks, web applications, and light workloads, with the occasional need for semi-professional tasks. The upcoming Arrow Lake, set to release early next year, will cater to those seeking higher performance with its dedicated GPUs.

This strategy closely mirrors Apple's approach of offering tiered performance levels, such as the base M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max. Similarly, Intel plans to provide more affordable ultrabooks by utilizing the Core Ultra 100 series, reserving the new chips for the high-end market. For instance, Samsung's pre-order price for the Book5Pro 360 at £1900 has reduced the Book4Pro with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage by £600, now priced at £999, thus establishing two distinct price points. The Book4 and Book5 models will represent even more affordable options, excluding OLED features.

Apple M4 will probably be a leap ahead again but the gap is getting closer which is great for increased consumer choice. Apple Silicon still the best choice for any general user that can afford it. Lunar Lake the pick for thin and light - again provided you can afford the premium price tag. Zen 5 the pick for anyone that wants a dGPU. Have a hunch that Zen 5 in gaming & creator laptops will match Arrow Lake on performance but shade it slightly on efficiency/battery life/heat/fan noise.

did intel compared Efficiency per watt to Apple M3 or other Apple chips?

I love how Ryzen + Apple silicon have lit a fire and we are starting to really reap the benefits as everyone needs to come out of the gates swinging for the fences. Having had the chance to daily-drive a reasonably modern Surface machine, the appeal of a touch-enabled ultra light that doesn't stutter at all on day-to-day tasks is extremely appealing. I only hope the desktop and notebook dGPU side will see similar gains, current gen feels very lacking outside the extreme top-end.

I'm currently tossing up potential laptop options as my Lenovo Ideapad 14" is nearing the end of its life.
Seems there will be some really promising CPU/APU options for 2-in-1 devices coming out next year.
Still holding out for my "unicorn device" that can consolidate my tablet (which I just use for note taking), laptop and mid-range gaming PC into a single device with decent battery life in the 13-14" size range. The 2023 ROG Flow X13 is the closest I've found so far.

Intel Chromebook Lake with 4 cores 8 threads is released under alternate naming! Note that an e-core performs about as fast as a second thread on a core ....

4:53 does that mean you guys will start testing Blender performance on iGPUs again?! The last one tested on your website was the RX680M I think. How close are we to not bad 3d rendering times on small laptops?! I can't think of any other tech influencer/reviewer that has done this.

Also, might Lunar Lake be viable for low power gaming/creator laptops? Any word?
