This song is from a 70's futuristic Canadian Rock Opera called Starmania. Very sad story and this song was sung by the male protagonist when his girlfriend was dying in his arms shot by gangsters stray bullets. He sings SOS questioning his existence and contemplating suicide. His last words "sleep child sleep" as his love breathed her last is especially poignant. One of the most difficult French songs in the world. Dimash made it even more difficult by expanding the range from 2 1/2 octaves to 3 1/2 octaves. No one can sing this version correctly (or beautifully) except Dimash although people have tried and some almost succeed they fall short. It is now Dimash's calling card which he sings at every one of his solo concerts. A huge fan favorite. And as you have noticed, Dimash is not tied to any one genre of songs. Dimash sings what he wants, when he wants. 😄

If you want their more pop songs, I recommend Give me your love, Screaming, Fly Away, Okay, I miss you, Zhalyn, My beauty, Be with me. On the other hand, his most romantic ballads: The love is like a dream, the love of tired swans, If I never breathe again, Give me love. Most folk songs from his country: Daididau, Samaltau, Durdaraz. More operas: Olympico, Passione, Question of honor, Ti amo cosi, Ulisse, among others, because there is a lot to choose from. None of his songs are wasted.

DIMASH has hundreds of songs to react to; you will stay busy, but he also sings in most all genres of music and can act, dance and play many instruments also. So multi-talented people wonder if there is anything he can't do. When he is asked that question he says "I can't cook", with a grin on his face.

He sang this song on his digital concert in January 2021 during the pandemic. He had to cancel his tour and did this concert for his Dears/fans. That’s why there was no audiende to be seen or heard.
SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione.
SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.

The man who often plays the kobys in Dimash’s performances is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it.
Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship.
He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range.

Thanks for doing more Dimash. He does any genre he wants, plays multiple instruments etc etc etc. Check out Be With Me MV for a fun Dimash, in English with Kazakh rap. Yes, he can do that as well. To see Kazakh Dimash... there are so many great ones, consider Samaltau from the 2021 Digital concert. The traditional instruments alone are haunting.

Hi! I can see you really appreciatte Dimash"s talent. He is very eclectic, so some people says "I don"t like Dimash" because (maybe) he dislikes some type of genre. But he can sing everything! You can watch some of his more popular songs and see the insane perfection in so many different songs: pop, opera, folk, ballades, covers, rap etc. I recommended you Show must go on fom the Singer, Diva dance from Bastau, Samaltau and Ikanaide from the Tokio Jazz Festival, Sinful passion, Screaming MV or Idol Hits, Stranger, OK or I miss you, Omir. Os aconsejo que vayáis conociendo a Dimash, porque os sorprenderá en cada interpretación, aunque sea de la misma canción. Tiene muchísimos temas, Conciertos, Videoclips, en varios géneros e idiomas. Dimash compone, toca varios instrumentos, actúa, dirige, produce... Y lo mejor de él es su humanidad, humildad, bondad, valores... It was actually an aria from a French musical Starmania from the late 70s. So if it sounds like music theater, it was! Dimash expanded the range by 2-3 octaves in his performances, thus differing from the original composition and performance of the piece. It is considered in its original form as one of the five hardest French songs to sing. Thank you for your review and I hope you continue down the wonderful Dimash rabbit hole!! ❤❤
