Zion National Park Angels Landing Hike — Chains to the Summit! Not For The Faint of Heart!

One of the best hikes in Zion National Park is Angels Landing. It's a 5-mile round-trip with 1,500' elevation gain that's not for the faint of heart! Not only is there a serious set of switchbacks called Walters Wiggles (named after the guy who designed them, who was obviously a bit sadistic), but also the famous chains to the summit! Can you handle it?!

Footage we shot for this video is included in an awesome segment about the national parks in Season 3, Episode 5 of The RVers. That episode premieres on Discovery on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 8am Eastern & Pacific, 7am Central, and 9am Mountain time. Set your alarm, or your DVR! Or you can check out our page all about The RVers for lots of other ways to watch the show.

Training and physical therapy inspiration right here! Y’all make it look easy. Thank you for sharing the reality of this hike and the views along the way. Even Scouts Point was breathtaking and might be an option for someone who couldn’t go all the way to Angels Landing. The gloves tip is priceless as well! I think you just saved several people many palm blisters. RV Geeks to the rescue again!! 🙌🥰.

Absolutely fantastic! We love Zion and their trails, but skipped Angels Landing because of how bad my fear of heights is getting (even videos are starting to make me dizzy lol) This was the best way for me to experience this and I love the line probably named after the sadistic guy who built them lol. Take care and safe travels!

Breathtaking is a gross understatement! I actually really enjoyed the subdued lighting from the overcast...it brought out the contrast of the different soil colors and the vegetation.

Thanks for taking me along guys! It's been years since my wife and I have done angels landing and Zion. The first time my wife and I went we had just come off of a 14 hour a day 73 straight day work marathon. The size of the place is deceiving to the first time viewer. We rented a dry suit and did the narrows as well. What a great place! Thanks for sharing. BTW, I am really enjoying learning my new DJI Zoom!

Well guys another great video. One of the best we've seen of Angels Landing. The wife and I met the two of as you were leaving at the Zion dump station, we'll be back volunteering again this year so if you are in the area stop and say hello.

I live in Utah (from VA) and Zion National Park is absolutely stunning. From those heights the valley below almost looks like a painting. I always like to see the checkerboard when I’m down that way too. Excellent footage guys!

What a beautiful hike. And you did it carrying your sunscreen, water, snack bars, gloves, extra socks PLUS four pounds of camera gear. All without breaking a sweat or even breathing hard. I salute you!
Love Zion NP as well but have not done that hike yet. The change in weather (clear skies: cloudy: rain & thunder) is probably quite common. (I'm thinking the further you travel to get there the more common it is.)

I remember when y'all were there and your jacks were frozen to the ground. I told hubby then we needed Snap pads! I have been out to the RV many times and to this day haven't measured for the pads. LOL But we haven't been to many places the last 2 yrs. We rescued a Chihuahua with heartworms in 2019 and had to keep her calm. The we all know what happened in 2020. Our closest & favorite spot was closed until October. That was time to winterize so we didn't bother to unwinterize. LOL We have a few trips planned this year. There have been several life changing stumbles in the last year. Our youngest son's wife moved out and files for divorce. They have 2 small kids that we keep during the day. That thru a kink into things with our son not knowing anyone that could keep the kids if we leave. So we worked around the kids shool schedules. We were always their free day care and took them with us before. Now with the divorce mommy says they can't go overnight with us. WTH??? We have had them for 3 weeks at a time if they needed to go out of state or the country. Now our oldest son has bladder cancer. We hope his surgery today was a success and his outcome is good, but who knows what is in store. I just love watching things like this on different channels so we know what is out there for us to see. I know I would never get hubby up to that summit. It amazes me the places that do not have barriers to keep people from falling off. LOL HUGS~Donna
