Qualcomm just revealed its all new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile processor. See how it compares to the popular Apple A16 Bionic chip first introduced in September 2022 with the iPhone 14 Pro.

8 Gen 2 will be a majestic chip. Nearly the same CPU performance as the A16, better GPU performance, ok power efficiency, and 8+ Gen 2 will pull performance even higher. 2023 looks like the year I finally change phone.

i love how everyone who is a little bit "in the know" realizes how they just mostly lied to us and get away with it
for example at 8:54: 3 times lower power consumption
i have a 360 bucks (the poco x4 gt/ watch geekerwans video on power efficiency for reference) phone which keeps up with the a14 in terms of power efficiency so i can't imagine it actually being 3 times less otherwise you would have horrible battery life
and yes i know that they often use data from optimal scenarios

I’m laughing about the comments that are trashing apple’s bionic A16… talking like it’s a trash chip whatsoever… I think you guys forget about the fact that these are essentially ARMed base chips, right? Snapdragon are just chasing now… remember that apple already has M1 and M2 chip bases. If apple wanted to they could easily pull off a performance beast plus it’s years ahead of efficiency. I don’t think A16 is trash as people say it is now that 8 gen 2 is here. I personally own an Asus Rog 8 gen 1+…. And my brother has a 14 pro max…. It still the best battery life ever in a phone, while performing like a beast. I still love my ROG Phone tho looks cooler xd

For years Android fanboys have been sucking up the fact that their chips were inferior and came with the „it doesn’t matter anyway“ argument. Now that they’re catching up to an older Apple Chip they are jumping around like a bunch of monkeys. You guys are weird

Now snapdragon chips are closing the gap with apple or perhaps surpassed it but we need to see this new chipset efficiency.

qualcomm better make sure that this new gen is better than the previous snapdragon chip, the previous chip kinda suck.

The numbers may sound impressive and lots of people comment about how apple is about to get smoked etc, but lets be real: snapdragon is known for its very bad thermals and hard thermal throttling, so it doesn't matter how big the numbers they quote are, when the chip can't maintain that performance for longer than 2-3 minutes vs apple's insanely efficient A series. In short: apple's A16 is still superior. Call me an apple fanboy, i couldn't care less, but you can't deny the truth and the truth is: snapdragon's efficiency and optimization is nothing compared to apple
