The facial expressions, the gorgeous rich tone, the depth to her voice, the creative and unique yet still fitting note choices, the adlibs, the storytelling… this whole performance is an absolute treasure and I’m so happy to have stumbled across this cover. I love the original too but I appreciate that she used different note choices to accommodate her voice and further express herself. Can’t believe I’m just finding this. Best cover I’ve heard of this song hands down and I don’t say that lightly. One of my favorite singer did a cover to this song and I’ll even take this version over theirs although thanks to the magic of the Internet I don’t have to choose. All of that to say, this is hauntingly beautiful.
