This is a bad comparison. There used to be more races in a season... I think a lot more. Though the number of starts jumps around. I don't know if he missed races. So this is very misleading. Richard Petty actually raced for 34 years compared to Jeff Gordon's 24 years. He does have a higher winning percentage than Jeff Gordon, but this does not tell you how long it took him to win 3 championships. Also, the cars were not even like they've gotten since after Jeff Gordon started racing. Richard Petty might have had a lot more money and just had a better car, for at least awhile and maybe it wasn't really fair. So I don't know. It's definitely an interesting statistic but not an accurate representation. But thank you for taking the time to find all these numbers. What I DO know is Joey Logo has taken a lot longer to win 3 championships than Jeff Gordon did. I think Jeff Gordon's 3rd came sooner than Joey's 1st, but I could be wrong so don't hold me to that lol.
