The Payne era of Asia really didn't get the credit and attention, IMO, that it deserved. Other than the 2 huge hits off the debut album, my other favorite song is "Who will Stop the Rain", which is just outstanding and when ever it comes on my playlist, people always ask me who that is. It's just a great song but there were so many others off those 90's Asia albums.

I love the John Wetton 1982 Asia but this is a very awesome version of this song....listen people I was at. The original Asia shows this guy is continuing the legacy of this spectacular band so just stop it I'm a bassist and this version is good sole survivor is on my playlist

Let me put a couple things into this equation okay John wetton is the original voice of Asia don't get me wrong he's done some wonderful works with a jean the first three albums not to mention the reunions albums as well when he came back but you have to remember John went off to do a solo works of his own without Asia basically in his mind he was done in Asia had to go off and find new members and so Mr Downes Carl Palmer had left Steve Howe was still a part of Asia somewhat but as a guest and so Mr Downes went off and found John Payne
The new bass player went on to carry the band as best as he could there were some good songs on each of the albums and some of them a very epic as well would take the time to listen to them I not only have the original albums but I have the albums with John Payne on them as well you can't just sit there and cry about it my friend but John Payne was with Asia a lot longer than John wetton was and he was also given the right to have the name Asia but when it came time Mr Downs to end the partnership with John Payne he went back to form his original group with the original members both versions are good in their own right and their albums from both eras are fantastic as well John is keeping the music alive but you also have to understand that John wetton is gone be grateful that you have someone there keep the music and the Legacy alive that's all I'm going to say about this

It's a song made for John Wetton, hard to imitate! But John Payne goes Asia at his own way and has the same number of good songs as John.

None of these guys (including JP whom I respect a lot) played on the original song. I know this is what generic rock fans like but Asia fans know better. JP needs to concentrate on Dukes of the Orient and do another album and take it on the road. Stop leaning on that Asia name. I agree JP was wronged back in 2006 when they unceremoniously dumped him when the original Asia re-formed. But still...two wrongs don't make a right. He is much better than that. Let Howe and Palmer carry forth Asia. JP is an awesome singer, bassist and writer. He needs to shine on his own.

I’m surprised that Steve would allow this to happen. I am normally critical of bands because I know what it takes to put a show on. But the keyboard player needs to practice. A lot of mistakes! The vocals sound good, but for being Asia’s biggest hit, the singer varies a great deal from the melody line. He also has trouble with the high notes. This performance is on par with a decent cover band, nothing more unfortunately and I hate to say that!
